its going down for now, when SF gets nerfed it will go back up, my guess to around 9k, until theres a new way to farm ecto.

Ecto prices went up because people thought ANet was going to nerf SF/kill UWSC/etc., and thus demand for ecto went up.

The nerf is still looming somewhere in the unknown future so it'll stay around where it is now, which is the price people are willing to speculate on hoping it will rise when the nerf comes.

Mhmm, theoretically price should increase when the nerf comes since new supply coming in will drastically go down, but then again there are already so many ectos in circulation that it might not make much of a difference.

Noone needs ectos anymore, as the majority of ppl don't need FoW anymore.

Ectos were so low not just because of the farming going on, as people have been farming UW since day 1 GW, but also because of the declining demand.

My best gues would be:

They're gonna go up massivly untill the day UWSC gets nerfed. They everyone is going to be like: "MUHHAHAHAHAH, I now have XX ectos and going to sell them for soooo much", but concidering everyone other player in GW did the same thing, and noone really NEEDS ectos, they're gonna sink back to XX price between 5 and 7K.

changing
increase
decrease

the prices are fluctuating right now and will more then likely go up up up when SF gets nerfed. if they ever release that update.

I came to a conclusion that ecto was traded more during the event b/c more stuff to buy, thus lowering the price.

I would also add that there was a significant amount of ecto dumped recently to generate cash for the Shing Jea Boardwalk Games.

This caused prices on many materials to plummet, including Obsidian Shards, Rubies, and Sapphires.

At the same time, there was speculation on Glittering Dust, which went from 140 gp to 340 gp in ten days. By Saturday evening, it had settled back down to 240 gp, and has been slowly dropping since.

This right here. It's the biggest/most significant reason why the prices went down. An example: many rich people go afk in Shing Jea dist 1 during said event (since dist 1 is the cool place to be ) and do not want to lose their spots (since it takes a good 20+ minutes just to get back in if you're lucky) so they simply merc their items at the trader; hence prices went down due to the trader being "restocked".

Make sense?

There's really nothing left to discuss here, and before this further turns into a playpen for trolls...
